Charlize Theron Adopts a Baby, Joins List of Hollywood's Adoptive Parents

Charlize Theron is a new mother as the beautiful actress adopted a baby boy and named him Jackson. Theron, who is single, didn't let that stop her from realizing her dream of becoming a mother and the 36-year old Oscar winner made the big jump into motherhood. Fans can see the new mother in 2012 as the Wicked Witch in the Snow White tale, "Mirror Mirror."

While she will be playing an evil witch in the movie, it is pretty assured that she will be quite the opposite as a mom. While this news is exciting, it is just one of many celebrity actresses who have adopted children, making a strong desire to begin a new, difficult, phase in their lives.

Angelina Jolie

Arguably the most popular star to adopt children is Angelina Jolie. The sexy actress has six adopted children that she raises with her celebrity boyfriend Brad Pitt. The kids range from ten-years old (Maddox) to three (twins, Vivienne and Knox). What is impressive about Pitt and Jolie is that they take their children with them while working, making sure that they remain good parents as well as award-winning actors.

Nicole Kidman

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's adopted son Connor turned 17 this year and if that doesn't make some people feel old, I don't know what will. Connor's older sister, Bella, is 19 years old and was also adopted as a baby by Cruise and Kidman. Seeing Connor as a 17-year old who wants to! be a DJ is really a shock when remembering him as a toddler, swinging from his parent's arms.

Katherine Heigl

Moving to more recent times, former "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl and her husband adopted a daughter named Naleigh from Korea in 2009. The actress and her musician husband Josh Kelly may not be done yet either, as Heigl announced on "Ellen" that they want to adopt more kids. Heigl knew that the adoption was the right thing to do because her parents adopted her sister Meg, also from Korea.

Mariska Hargitay

"Law and Order" veteran Mariska Hargitay adopted a baby boy named Andrew Nicolas in late 2011. The interesting thing about Hargitay adopting a child is that she also has a biological child, August Miklos, who was born in 2006. The child birth was a rough one for the actress but that did not stop her from building her family through adoption. She also has a daughter, Amaya Josephine, who she adopted six short months before bringing Andrew home.
