Charlize Theron To Produce And Star In Crime Thriller

Looks like Charlize Theron has yet another project in the works. Earlier we reported that Fred Savage is to direct Theron in a vehicle starring the actress called Ladies Night. Now it looks like the Young Adult actress has yet another project lined up in a long list of films.

Her latest project that has been announced is a Paramount film. Described as a thriller similar in tone to The Departed, Charlize Theron will star and produce through her company Denver and Delilah, along with producer Ian Bryce. So far the project is an Untitled crime film, about a corrupt vigilante group.

In addition to the promising tone of the film set, writer Dan Nowak has entered into the project to start the screenplay. Nowak is a seasoned writer on AMCs The Killing, so that alone sounds pretty promising seeing how genre-specific The Killing is.

For Theron, this project is just one in four projects that have been announced in the last few weeks. For one, she has the Fred Savage project, which is a comedy for Skydance, another comedy is in the works with co-star Seth MacFarlane called A Million Ways to Die in the West, and Theron is also attached to star and produce in an independent film titled Dark Places, which was previously a novel by Gillian Flynn.

In the close future Theron has Mad Max: Fury Road releasing in 2014, which saw the actress sporting a cool shaved head. As for her role as a producer, the Untitled crime project will be the eleventh project Theron has taken on. Of those projects that Theron has produced are Monster, Sleepwalking, Young Adult and The Burning Plain.

Speaking about her role as a producer, Theron said:
Now that Im producing films, you realize the logistics of making a film. Its a lot of pressure and I think no matter what the budget is, you have to play within those rules.

So for me, I always feel responsible no matter what the budget is. At the end of the day I dont want to waste anybodys time or money.

Are you excited to see Charlize Theron produce and star in more films in the coming years?
