Feeling like you can never do anything creative with short hair? Well, hopefully Charlize Theron's chic updo will give you a jolt of inspiration.

Cropped cuts needn't always look the same and all it takes to mix things up a bit is a skinny headband, a curling iron and maximum-hold hairspray. To begin, use a small or medium-barreled curling iron to create as much wave and bend as possible. Curl one and two-inch sections over the entire head and then backcomb thoroughly.

Next, finger comb hair back, pulling it all away from the face and smoothing the top layer without diminishing volume. Then, spritz your 'do with a healthy dose of hairspray and pop on a cute headband. Ta-da! It's a whole new you!
