After having taken on challenging roles in the past only to have them disappoint in the execution, the 36-year-old actress now looks to work with visionaries at the helm of her films. She sought out Jason Reitman at last year's Academy Awards, where the writer-director had been nominated for his George Clooney-starring "Up in the Air," Theron's favorite film of 2009. IFP's Gotham Independent Films Awards went off Monday in Manhattan with nary a "Dark Knight" rising -- though the event counted one evil queen in Charlize Theron. Charlize Theron reportedly fled from a hair salon recently when fellow actress Cameron Diaz arrived. The South African star was having her tresses tended to at the Byron & Tracey Salon in Beverly Hills on October 27, when she had a strange reaction to the Bad Teacher star entering the establishment. A witness told Star magazine that Charlize appeared “pretty panicked” when Alex Rodriguez’s ex-girlfriend walked in. “It sure seemed like Charlize was trying to not see or interact with Cameron,” the source said. “Charlize got flustered and told her hairstylist to wrap up quickly and to forget about blow-drying her hair.” The Oscar-winner then took off her smock and left the salon with her hair still wet. The Oscar winning actress tells the December issue of Vogue magazine this is the first time shes been unattached since she was nineteen. She used to go from one relationship to another some within a month saying she found a comfort zone being monogamous. The 36-year-old Theron dated actor Stuart Townsend for nearly 10 years before their breakup in 2010. She says she pulled back on her career as an effort to save the union when the relationship began to go downhill, calling that the priority and that she wouldnt do it any different way. Theron is now ready to work with the romantic comedy Young Adult written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman. It opens Dec. 16. The December issue of Vogue magazine goes on sale Nov. 22.
