Charlize Theron to film in Namibia

Windhoek South African-born actress Charlize Theron will be filming Mad Max 4: Fury Road in Namibia next year, reports Republikein online.

According to interviews with Oscar-winning director George Miller (Happy Feet and Babe) shooting will start in March or April 2012.

Charlize and British rising star Tom Hardy (Warrior, The Dark Knight Rises) have reportedly signed on to play the lead roles and equipment for filming is already on its way to Namibia.

Flower paradise

Filming was originally meant to take place in a small Australian town known as Broken Hill, but due to the heaviest rainfall in 75 years in the area, it was moved to Namibia.

After the rainfall, Broken Hill was transformed into a flower paradise which is not suitable for the film's required desert-like landscape.

Mad Max 4: Fury Road will be shot in 3D, using the same technology used by James Cameron in Avatar, according to reports.

The movie has also secured Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Zo Kravitz (X-Men: First Class), and Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) in supp! orting r oles.

Tom Hardy takes over the lead role from Mel Gibson, who starred in three Mad Max movies released from 1979-1985.
