Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron to honour Bill Clinton for GLAAD
The ex-president is to be given the inaugural 'Advocate for Change Award' at the upcoming GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.
Clinton has been selected for the prize because he promoted equality for the LGBT Community both in office as president and since becoming a private citizen in 2001.
GLAAD spokesperson Wilson Cruz paid tribute to Clinton in a statement: "President Clinton's support of the LGBT community and recognition that DOMA, the so-called Defence of Marriage Act, is unconstitutional and should be struck down shows that the political landscape continues to change in favour of LGBT equality.
"Leaders and allies like President Clinton are critical to moving our march for equality forward."
This year's GLAAD Media Awards will also be honouring openly gay entertainment lawyer Steve Warren.
The annual gala was established in 1990 and over the years has honoured Tracey Ullman, Antonio Banderas, Megan Mullally, Sharon Stone and Lady GaGa.
