Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio and Charlize Theron are set to bestow an honour on President Bill Clinton on behalf of gay rights organisation GLAAD.

The ex-President is to receive the first 'Advocate for Change Award' at the GLAAD Media Awards for his work promoting gay and lesbian causes.

Clinton has reportedly been selected for the prize because he promoted LGBT Americans both while President and after he'd left office.

GLAAD spokesperson Wilson Cruz paid said in a statement: "President Clinton's support of the LGBT community and recognition that DOMA, the so-called Defence of Marriage Act, is unconstitutional and should be struck down shows that the political landscape continues to change in favour of LGBT equality."

"Leaders and allies like President Clinton are critical to moving our march for equality forward," he added according to Digital Spy.

The annual awards bash was estabilshed by the organisation in 1990, and has honoured the likes of Tracey Ullman, Antonio Banderas, Megan Mullally, Sharon Stone and Lady GaGa.

Hollywood has long been known for its campaigning on gay issues, with tinseltown's stars including not just some of the gay community's most famous names like Ellen DeGeneres, but also its most outspoken advocates like George Clooney.
