She was heading to her local supermarket to stock up on healthy treats for a tasty family dinner.

But Charlize Theron proved that even carrying out basic chores is no excuse for letting her style credentials slip.

The 37-year-old star cut a fashionable figure as she showed off her enviably-slim pins in a pair of chic contrast stripe skinny jeans while heading out to Whole Foods in Beverly Hills, California, on Thursday afternoon.

Teaming her khaki and black trousers by Hudson Jeans with a simple black jumper, the Oscar-winning actress looked effortlessly chic as she carefully navigated her heavily-laden trolley through the car park with an assistant on hand.

The South African beauty completed her look with a pair of skyscraper peep-toe shoe boots and dark shades to shelter her eyes from the Los Angeles sun, while clutching a small bright orange purse in her hand.

Although the towering heels weren't perhaps the most sensible choice of footwear for a supermarket outing, there's no denying the Prometheus star looked every inch the fashionista as she headed out for the da! y.

Picking up a plethora of groceries and flowers, it would appear Charlize was planning a Valentine's Day meal for a special someone.

After splitting from partner of nine years Stuart Townsend in early 2010, the star is said to have found love once again with Modern Family actor Eric Stonestreet after being introduced by mutual friends last year.

A source said at the time: 'Eric is down to earth and funny and Charlize thinks the world of him. Its early days but theyre very fond of each other.

Charlize adopted a baby boy named Jackson in May 2012 after beginning the process two years ago.

She told British Vogue: 'I've always been very honest in saying I wanted a family. I've always known I wanted a family. I don't think my mom could wait anymore!'

Charlize has so far been able to balance motherhood and career with ease and with four films in pre-production at present, she has become quite the expert.
