Eric Stonestreet Hopes Charlize Theron Rumors Will Land Him A Date With Actress

Could unfounded rumors about a romance between Eric Stonestreet and Charlize Theron help the "Modern Family" star land a date with the Oscar winner?

Access Hollywood's Billy Bush caught up with the actor on the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet, where Eric chatted about the reports of their budding romance.

"I'm offended that somebody thinks her taste is [that bad]. Do not insult my friend like that!" Eric said with a laugh when asked about Charlize.

"A few years ago it was Scarlett Johansson, then it was Mila Kunis, then Whoopi Goldberg, we were rumored to be dating for a while," he joked.

Eric is hoping the rumors will improve his chances with the actress.

"I'm hoping she sees the story and calls and says, 'Maybe we should have coffee... Maybe we should grab a little food,'" Eric said of pal Charlize, who he first met in Washington D.C. in April at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner.

Before taking home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for playing Cameron Tucker on "Modern Family," Eric said he was pulling for his co-stars to win the award.

"I'm really pulling for Jesse [Tyler Ferguson] and Ed [O'Neill]" Eric added.
