Charlize Theron has optioned a movie about the late war reporter Marie Colvin

The movie would be based on Marie Brenner's article 'Marie Colvin's Private War', which was published by Vanity Fair magazine, and Charlize, Basil Iwanyk and Peter Lawson would produce along with the actress' Denver and Delilah Films partners Beth Kono and AJ Dix.

The film is not currently planned to have the South African beauty in the cast, but she may take on a role.

Marie worked for The Sunday Times and she risked her life on countless occasions to report from war zones during her career, including losing an eye in Sri Lanka in 2001.

She interviewed Colonel Gadaffi after the American bombing of Libya in 1986 as well as rescuing 1,500 civilians in east Timor by staying with them while they were under attack until they were eventually evacuated.

Charlize's last foray into biopic was successful, with 2001 movie 'Monster' - which she also produced - winning her the Oscar for Best Actress thanks to her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos.
