Monahan seems like the right candidate for that job: he earned an Oscar for best adaptation of a foreign film in 2007 for the script of Scorcese's The Departed , based on the Hong Kong thriller Infernal Affairs . The new film will be based on the 2005 film also known as Lady Vengeance , which is centered around a woman who plots and executes her revenge after having been wrongly imprisoned for a child's murder. Directed by Park Chan-wook, it capped a trilogy that started with Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Old Boy , which earned the Grand Prize at the 2004 Cannes Festival.
